How you can give to our work in reponse to C-19

How we're using the money

At St. Mary's we look to share the love of Jesus through our relationships, our words and through providing practical help and support. If you'd like to read about the work that we were doing to serve our community before the current crisis please click here.

Since the coronavirus pandemic our work has become even more urgent. We are supporting our community in the following ways:

Mary's Meals

Mary's Meals is working to distribute food to anyone in need during this crisis.

We run Mary's Meals from "The Branch", which is our newly acquired building on Market Place.). We purchased the building to eventually transform it into a centre of social activity; serving the community, and providing practical support. Currently the building looks more like Iceland(!), hosting 12 freezers all brimming with food to be distributed to those in need.

At the end of April we had 37 delivery drivers delivering 270 deliveries (Chippy Larder boxes and Mary’s Meals). 130 families received Mary’s Meals, with a total of 900 individual meals going out.

Supporting local business

We've taken every opportunity to support local businesses, by buying from them, partnering with them in creative ways, and using their facilities and expertise wherever possible. We'd love to see our local businesses survive this difficult period, so we're doing what we can to support them too.

Longer term

We know that the after-effects of this crisis will be felt for a long time. We're committed to the families, businesses and schools in this town. We've love serving our community through the Primary School, the CAP Debt Centre, Food Bank, The Store and our summer event "Pandemonium in the Park", amongst others.

We have ambitious plans to help our community even more through our recent purchase of the old Natwest bank, with a view to creating "The Branch", a community hub providing practical support to anyone in our town. We know that in the aftermath of this crisis this facility will be needed even more than ever. We would love to have enough funds to continue to build hope, opportunities and give help to anyone affected by the coronavirus pandemic in an ongoing way.
